On May 18, 2025 the Merrick Fire Department responded to the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Dobson Ave for an auto accident involving a car versus building. One injured person was transported to a local hospital, with structural damage to the involved building. Technical rescue teams from Freeport, North Bellmore, Bellmore, Massapequa, and Bethpage responded to evaluate the structural stability of the building.
