About the Empire Hose Company 3 Juniors
The Empire Hose Company 3 Juniors are a group of Young Men and Women who are between the ages of 13 and 18, who are interested in firefighting, and/or Helping out their community. The program is supported by the Members of Empire Hose Company 3.
What we do
The Empire Hose Co.3 Juniors are self governed. The Juniors have one training per month, one Meeting permonth and one trip per month. We also help the Company with maintaining the station, equipment, and learning how to use it. In addition, we have the option of attending different department trainings, to learn how the Merrick Fire Department operates.
Examples of different things the juniors do
The juniors participate in trips to places such as the Nassau County Fire Museum, Six Flags Great Adventure, Nassau County Fire Marshall’s office, Nassau County FIRECOM, Sporting events, and much more. They also March in the Memorial Day Parade every year and the 6th Battalion parade. They do different trainings on various basic firefighting techniques, such as using the SCBA’s (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), operating a hoseline, forcing doors, and more.
