On the ninth anniversay of the 9-11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, the Merrick fire department held a memorial service at the firefighters monument on Merrick Ave. & Sunrise Highway. Members of the family of Ronnie Gies placed a wreathe in memory of Ronnie Gies, and Ex-Chief Paul Waterman placed one in memory of Brian Sweeny.
